After visiting the 15th Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) you will have the feeling of having travelled the world. Today and tomorrow Macau’s largest annual trade and economic event opens to the general public at The Venetian Macau. It’s not only an opportunity to do business, but also for consumers to buy a wide range of products from local and international companies.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Pavilion and the European Pavilion are the first ones to catch the visitors’ eye. At the ASEAN area, the main attractions are traditional Indonesian crafts, batiq fabric and furniture, as well as the Thailand Pavilion.
“Indonesia Street” is making its debut at the MIF this year. The company will open a showroom in Taipa next week and is eyeing the local hospitality industry. “We want to promote Indonesian products in Macau and, through MIF, we hope to get some contacts for supplying products to local hotels,” the company’s representative Reqina Ieng told Macau Daily Times.
Meanwhile, Thai dancers are luring the photographers at the Thailand Pavilion, organised by the Macau Thailand Chamber of Commerce. The cosmetic and health products company Biodernat was invited for the first time to join the MIF and is planning to enter the local market next year.
“We are the number two spa products manufacturer in Thailand and we will try to invest in Macau,” business development manager Kitkanya Benjatikul said.
